In the summer of 2000
the first Norwegian Forest cat entered our live. At that point we didn't
know about the attractive charme of this breed. But very soon we fell in love with the Norwegian and
now we share our house
with eight beautiful Norwegian Forest Cats. Our cattery name "Vennekrets"
means as much as "circle of friends" and it's a very suitable
description of the place that our cats have in our life. Our Norwegians
are true soulmates and we enjoy their attendence every day.
With only
one or two litters a year we are a small cattery. It's very important
for us that our cats and the kittens that we breed have enough space in our
house and can get all the attention and care they need and deserve. Our
kittens grow up in our living room, getting used to people and the
other cats, and this anables them to develope into social and curious
little cats.
Our goal is
to breed healthy, strong and social cats with a good coatstructure and that typical wild-look that
Norwegians should have. Our breeding cats will be tested on Felv/FIV and
also
on HCM/PKD (from the age of three years).
We want to make sure that our
cats will get the best care that's possible, including things like premium
food, an
optimal veterinairian care and good accomodation, things that we also
achive for the kittens that we breed.
Beside breeding we also like to go to catshows (FIFe-shows)
with some of our cats, only with those who feel at ease at shows. We think it's important to hear from experienced jugdes (and also from
other exhibitors) wether our cats have enough qualities that confirm to
the standard of the breed. It helps us to be critical about our breeding
policy.
Ofcourse it's also a good opportunity for us to see very beautiful
Norwegians in real, to meet other breeders and keep in touch with other
Norwegian-lovers.
